Product Description

The AMT BDM from AMT-Cartech is a dedicated, standalone master tool engineered for advanced ECU programming on units equipped with MPC5xx processors. Designed for automotive engineers and ECU specialists, this interface enables direct access to ECU microcontrollers via the BDM (Background Debug Mode) protocol—essential for firmware development, recovery, and cloning operations.
Technical Features:
  • Processor Support: Compatible with ECUs using the Motorola/Freescale MPC5xx microcontroller family.
  • Standalone Operation: No dependency on third-party software suites; direct control for professional use.
  • Complete Kit: Includes BDM interface unit, USB cable, ribbon cable, carry case, and 5 precision probes.
  • Flexible Connectivity: Probes ensure reliable contact with ECU BDM pads for stable data transfer.
  • Direct ECU Access: Enables reading, writing, and full cloning of ECU flash and EEPROM memory.
  • Robust Construction: Designed for intensive workshop use and repeated deployment.
Important Note:
Some ECUs may require external power supplied via ECU pins (power supply and wiring not included). 

This tool is available as a master only. Checksums are not included; you will require a third-party checksum program, or MPPS users can use the checksum utility available in the MPPS software (where supported).

Applications:
  • Bench programming and recovery of ECUs with locked or corrupted firmware
  • Full flash and EEPROM backup/restore operations
  • Development, testing, and research for automotive electronics engineers

The software automatically detects the processor and memory types, which simplifies the process for the user. Access to the available memories is then granted, and the software allows you to read/write the desired data individually.

Included with the AMT BDM programmer are the following probes:

  • BDM1 – 10-pin Siemens probe (port pitch 1.27mm) – Siemens SID201, SID202, SID203, SID204, SID206, SID803, MS45, MSS65, MSV70, MSS70. Bosch ME9.7, EDC7.
  • BDM2 – 10-pin Delphi probe (port pitch 2.54mm) – Jaguar/Ford 2.0TDCI.
  • BDM3 – 14-pin Bosch probe (port pitch 2.54mm) – All Bosch.
  • BDM4 – 10-pin Siemens/Marelli probe (port pitch 1.27mm) – Marelli, Siemens PPD, Siemens MSS65.
  • BDM7 – 10-pin Delphi probe (port pitch 2.54mm) – Mercedes Benz / Kia / Ssangyong Delphi DCM3.2.
